Site Story —
Dr. Kristen Aycock, is the founder of Perspectives Counseling here in Atlanta. Having an established practice for several years, Kristen came to me with the intention of refining her brand and web design to fit her unique approach and appeal to her ideal client in Buckhead. “Since at least the 1950s, Buckhead has been known as a district of extreme wealth, with the western and northern neighborhoods being virtually unrivaled in the Southeast. In 2011, The Gadberry Group compiled the list of the 50 wealthiest zip codes in the United States, ranking Buckhead's western zip code (30327) as the second wealthiest zip code in the South (behind Palm Beach's 33480) and the second wealthiest zip code east of California and south of Virginia.[19]”
With this type clientele, I knew I wanted a polished and professional aesthetic that looked both modern and beautiful. Think of brands like Restoration Hardware, West Elm, Williams Sonoma all known for quality and beauty. I combined these ideas with Kristen’s desire to create a soothing and peaceful experience to remake her existing brand and re-design her entire website on Wix. Wix is an all-in-one platform, so things like security, updates, hosting— they’re all built in. Plus, it’s drag-and-drop, live-editing so making changes is easy!

When designing a primary logo, I like to customize the font at least a little bit so their brand is unique and one-of-a-kind. Because Perspectives Counseling’s original icon was a brushed circle, much of their new work pulls that element in too. It connects their audience with who they were before, but also carries the vision of the practice— to help clients look at their world from a new Perspective or even changing direction. I wanted their wordmark to convey the same shape and idea, yet be able to stand-alone. For this, I created a custom “V” that curves back.
